How many documents do you have set up?
Your Will
This document lets everyone involved know where they stand and what your wishes are for your Legacy Gift.
Power of Attorney
If you should fall ill and lose mental capacity then a Power of Attorney will enable someone to sign important documents like mortgage deeds on your behalf.
Protective Property Trust
With a Protective Property Trust you can make sure your properties go to your kids or loved ones should you pass away first. If in place and your partner remarries (or goes bankrupt), your properties will be protected and go to your intended.
Living Will
End of life can often be a confusing and harrowing time making life critical decisions is not what anyone wants for their family. Make it clear what should happen with a Living Will (sometimes call an advanced decision).
Survivors Discretionary Trust
When you pass your life insurance forms part of your taxable estate. To avoid this you can set up a Survivors Discretionary Trust which means the money will go straight to your beneficiaries, bypassing your estate. (Best of all this is usually a free document you can get from your insurance company – good eh!)
If all of this seems daunting, don’t worry, we have done it all before and can help guide you through our Landlord Legacy Framework.
